Our Cardiothoracic Surgery service participates in multiple clinical trials that are ever changing and growing. With topics ranging from newly developed surgical devices aimed at reducing wait time for surgery, new therapies reducing recovery time, and new procedures that include the use of robotic thoracic surgery and robotic / minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS). This includes the state of Iowa’s first registry and data repository of patients having undergone MICS, lead by Dr. Mohammad Bashir.
